These Terms are an agreement between you and the operator of JosMeet, its individual creator, @catiakyen, Jos, Nigeria ("JosMeet", "we", "us"). JosMeet is an individual's project, not a company. They apply when you use the JosMeet app or the josmeet.com website. By creating an account you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use JosMeet.
1. Who can use JosMeet
To use JosMeet you must:
- be at least 18 years old;
- be legally able to enter into this agreement;
- not have been banned from JosMeet before;
- not have been convicted of a sexual or violent offence, and not be required to register as a sex offender anywhere;
- have only one account.
We close any account that breaks these rules. We do not run criminal background checks on users.
2. Your account
Give accurate information, including your real date of birth, and keep it up to date. Keep your password secret; you are responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has accessed it.
3. Community rules
Everyone on JosMeet agrees to three rules:
- Be respectful. Treat people the way you want to be treated. No harassment, insults, threats or pressure. "No" means no.
- Be real. Use your own photos and true information. Don't pretend to be someone else.
- Stay safe. Protect your personal and financial information, and report anyone who makes you uncomfortable.
4. Prohibited content and behaviour
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. You must not post, send or do any of the following:
- nudity, sexually explicit content, or sexual content sent without consent;
- anything involving or sexualising anyone under 18;
- harassment, bullying, threats, stalking, or encouraging violence or self-harm;
- hate speech or discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, nationality, disability, gender, sexual orientation or similar characteristics;
- violent, graphic or shocking content;
- scams, asking for money, gifts or financial details, or romance fraud;
- selling sex, escort services, or any commercial promotion, advertising or spam;
- impersonating another person, or using someone else's photos;
- sharing someone else's private information without permission;
- anything illegal, or encouraging illegal activity;
- hacking, scraping, automated access, or interfering with the app or other users' accounts.
5. Reporting, blocking and moderation
You can report or block any user from their profile, your matches or a conversation. Blocking stops the other person from seeing your profile or messaging you.
We review reports and may remove content, warn users, or suspend or permanently ban accounts that break these Terms, with or without notice. When we act on a report we may review the reported profile, photos and messages. [PLACEHOLDER: moderation response time and ban policy (OQ-21, OQ-24)]
6. Your content
You own the photos, text and messages you post ("your content"). You give JosMeet a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display and process your content only to operate, improve and keep the service safe. This licence ends when your content is deleted, except for copies we must keep as described in the Privacy Policy. You confirm you have the right to post your content and that it follows these Terms.
7. Swipes and swipe packs
- Some swipes use credits from your swipe balance. [PLACEHOLDER: free swipes, and whether passes cost a credit (OQ-17, OQ-20)]
- You can buy swipe packs in the app. Packs are one-time purchases of digital credits, not subscriptions. Prices are shown in the app, in your local currency, before you buy.
- Purchases are made through the Apple App Store or Google Play and are subject to their terms. Apple or Google takes the payment; we do not see your card details.
- Swipe credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred or exchanged, and can only be used in JosMeet. [PLACEHOLDER: whether credits expire (OQ-19)]
- Credits are added to your account once the store confirms the purchase. If a purchase is refunded or cancelled, the matching credits are removed.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies. Request them from the store you bought from. This does not affect any rights you have under consumer law.
- EU and UK users: swipe credits are delivered immediately. By buying, you ask for immediate delivery and agree that you lose your 14-day right of withdrawal once the credits are added to your account. [PLACEHOLDER: legal review; the app should show this consent at checkout]
- Unused credits are lost when you delete your account or your account is banned. [PLACEHOLDER: confirm (OQ-15)]
8. Your safety
JosMeet helps you meet people, but we cannot control what users do on or off the app. Be careful when talking to or meeting someone: meet in public places, tell a friend where you are going, and never send money. You are responsible for your interactions with other users. If you are in danger, contact local emergency services.
9. Deleting your account and ending these Terms
You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile, then Settings, then Delete account) or by email. See Delete your account. We can suspend or close your account if you break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering JosMeet. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as licences already used, liability limits and governing law) continue after the Terms end.
10. Changes to JosMeet and these Terms
We may change features or stop parts of the service. We may update these Terms; if a change is significant we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using JosMeet after that, the new Terms apply.
11. Disclaimers and limits of liability
JosMeet is provided "as is". We do our best to keep it working and safe but do not promise it will always be available or error-free, or that you will find a match. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses or for the behaviour of other users, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your rights as a consumer.
12. Apple and Google
If you downloaded JosMeet from the Apple App Store: these Terms are between you and JosMeet only, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app, its content, maintenance, support, warranty, or any claims about it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Your use of the app must also follow the App Store's Usage Rules. The same applies, as relevant, to Google Play.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, with the courts of Plateau State, Nigeria having jurisdiction where a venue is needed. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and can bring claims in your local courts.
